Canon Powershot Digital Cameras: SX20IS Reviews and Ratings

canon powershot sx20is digital camera reviews

I am a photographer with a range of photographic interests, from landscaping to people to animals. I do many kinds of photography with different types of cameras, mostly digital. In the past, I’ve used smaller cameras that did not have as many features as the Canon PowerShot SX20IS 12.1MP Digital Camera . One reason I chose the camera is because of its amazing quality and relatively inexpensive price-tag.

For one, the LCD pullout was a great feature. It allows me to shoot multiple angles and get a great picture every time. I used it at a baseball game, and it worked wonderfully even though my seat was not ideal.

For sharing videos on Youtube, the camera is great. It is so simple to upload on Youtube or any other movie site online. You can play the file using different media players, too, which is good if you are software-challenged.

The reviews of its predecessors were very good, so I am hoping that this camera will follow suit in its rave reviews. Already, there are multiple reviews online praising the camera.

The downside of this camera is that you need batteries to power it. Most cameras these days use a rechargeable dock, which I much prefer, but for some reason this camera uses outdated battery technology. It also makes the camera feel slightly heavier compared to the rechargeable docking cameras. I would recommend buying some rechargeable batteries if you plan on using this camera heavily.

The only disadvantage other than the battery issue is that it makes noise when you zoom in and out. While slightly annoying, the noise doesn’t really detract from the overall excellent quality of the camera. If you plan on shooting games and people, then this noise won’t be an issue. This may be a problem, however, if you wish to shoot wildlife without scaring them away!

As far as software goes, you need to use the software that comes with it. If you do not, the photos won’t transfer well to your PC. This may be a slight annoyance, but the Canon PowerShot SX20IS 12.1MP Digital Camera really works out well for me.
