The Good:
- Touch Focus – One of the more attractive features (and certainly one of the coolest) is the touch focus capability in camera mode. All you have to do is aim your camera phone at the desired spot and then touch the spot on the LCD screen with your finger that you want the camera to focus on. Touch the tree in the upper right corner, and there will the camera focus. Easy as pie, and cool as ice.
- Resolution – Having a 12 megapixel resolution (12.1mp, actually) on a digital camera is extraordinary. But to have it on a camera phone? That’s just ridiculously amazing. With this product, you won’t have to own a separate digital camera, because this one will take better pictures than most cameras out there anyway.
- Versatility -The Satio Sony Ericsson 12 megapixel camera phone is so many things in one sexy package. And none of them suffer from their abilities being spread too thin. The phone works great, the mp3 player is to die for, the camera is beyond fantastic, and the java gaming is exciting and addictive. This device does it all.
The Bad:
- Headphones – The earpieces this ultra-high-end camera phone come with are really poor. You’d think Sony would include with the Satio their own rubberized ear buds that block out all other sounds, or at least something of a similar high quality. Nope.
- The Jack is Jacked – And speaking of headphones, the jack isn’t a 3.5 mm design, so you’ll have to buy an adapter if you want to use your own good headphones with this phone.
- Software Glitches – A lot of consumers have complained about faulty software after just a few months of use. The T9 function has reportedly failed multiple times and what was once mistaken for user-unfriendly behavior has shown itself to be self-destructing programs that just stop working. You’ll need to run constant updates and probably visit a technician or two before getting this guy back to normal.
Sony Ericsson 12 Megapixel Camera Phone Review: The Bottom Line
The best advice we can offer you is to go to the store and give it a test run for yourself. After all, only you are able to tell if the user interface is right for you.
But if you want our honest opinion right now, we’d say you’d probably do well to skip this one.
The Sony Ericsson 12 megapixel phone price tag is pretty high at over $500.
Of course, that’s without the signing of a new plan contract with a service provider.
But with a base price that’s on par with the iPhone and the Pre, you should just get the better product.
And the Satio simply isn’t the better product.
